The South Thiladhunmathi Atoll or more commonly known as Haa Dhaal Atoll is the Northern part of the Maldives. With a population of 18,000 in 38 inhabited islands, the atoll has become one of the most populated regions in the Maldives. South Thiladhunmathi Atoll is connected by air to the capital through Hanimaadhoo Island and the Atoll capital Kulhudhuffushi City. The former being an international Airport, there have been an increase of tourist visits to the Atoll. Hanimaadhoo International Airport is one of the first airports built and operated in the Maldives. Hanimaadhoo Island is located 288.84 KM away from the capital Male’. With almost 7 KM of white sandy beach, the island is treasured even by the locals. Azim Musthag
Locally owned and operated dive centre in Hanimaadhoo which is run by some seasoned professional divers. They cater to the locals and tourists in Hanimaadhoo as well as nearby islands. Dive courses and diving trips are available. The island itself is quite big compared to most islands in Maldives and have its own airport. Nonetheless it is very peaceful and green. The beach is quite extensive and very nice.

Someone who read my comment will love diving very well with Hanimadhoo dive center! The instructor is a certified diving instructor and explains in great detail and accuracy. Before going deep, there is practical training in shallow water for beginners. Through this hands-on training, you will learn how to clear your mouth, drain water from your glasses, how to check your air tank pressure, and more. After that, it gradually enters towards the deep sea. If you are curious about the sea and environment of Hamimaadhoo and the surrounding islands, please see my photos. There are many islands around. I did 2 dives with Hanimaadhoo dive center at Hanimaadhoo and Baarah. You can see an incredibly clear view and a lot of aquatic life. I would like to express my deep gratitude to Redey, who is safe, knows the route well and always gave me a lot of fun. I definitely want to go diving next time I visit.

As a new dive centre, they are well organized. Gear is in excellent condition (even big fin size for tall folks like me). We went to two dive points where current was strong, but still managed to see beautiful marine life between 20-6 meters. Weather was amazing, so that helped too. Staff is friendly, prepared and responsive. Definitely try it out if in Hanimaadhoo!

We were very lucky that we found Redey to take us diving as the dive centre on Hondaafushi the island we were visiting was not operational. Both my wife & I are keen divers & underwater photographers & managed a total of 17 dives including a night dive with Redey & his crew picking us up & dropping us back to the island. We have not dived up in the North before & I have to say it was some of the best diving we have ever done with beautiful soft coral gardens, more fish than we have ever seen, huge rays, huge turtles, sharks and more and more and more. We cannot recommend them enough & if you have any doubts about the dive centre on the island you are visiting then contact Redey or even if you don't have doubts contact him anyway you may be pleasantly surprised with what he can offer at a very respectable price & very personal service.
